Reclaiming Your Teenage Fire

by Justin (Journeyman, age 13), June 2008

This is basically a short resume of my amazing experience serving at the RTF (Reclaining Your Teenage Fire) weekend.....,

I was a little nervous going in to serve this weekend. I had all these different mixed emotions for what was going to happen or how the weekend would go.... And we arrived at the camp and something weird happend to me, i took my first step out of the car and i knew, i had this feeling....i said to myself "this weekend is going to be amazing"..the energy in the camp overwhelmed me....When the participant's first arrived you could tell they were nervous, frightened and they were trying to interact with us and whatever they were feeling you felt it too. That's how powerful this was. But as the weekend went on we had all these processes and you didn't see the old men you saw arrive saturday morning. They were teenagers. You know we had all these guys playing ultimate and dogdeball, and they looked like they hadn't even thrown a ball for years. My highlight of the weekend was the process where the participants had us the j-men stand and hold their teenage pictures and they just all spoke their truth and it was intense but it was so magical. I love to bless people and when i got to see these men playing and see them being the teenager they probably couldn't be as when they should have been teenager's i felt blessed just to be there. I was able to step up as a leader and touch base again with boys to men..It felt safe............

Peace,
Justin
