Reclaiming Your Teenage Fire

by George J. Nimeh (Mentor), June 2008

I remember dreading my upcoming teenage years when I was 12. I kept hearing people talk about the "teenage crisis" and how difficult teenagers were to live with. I thought I had to be ashamed about being a teenager and just wanted to go through them as quickly as possible. Needless to say I went through some harsh times... Before the RTF, I thought that I had moved on my teenage years, put them on the side, forgotten them. Early on in the course it was clear to me that I was still carrying those wounds. RTF allowed me to look at these wounds with the peace of perspective and come to terms with them. It also made me recognize the golden energy of my teenage years, that sheer enthusiasm of our potential and what we could do! It also took away my fear of being with teenagers. I was so afraid of hurting them, of looking weak to them, or of just failing them in one way or another. I now feel free with teenagers to learn from them and to share my life experiences. I loved the RTF!
